Die Akari Stehleuchte ist Teil der Akari Lichtskulpturen, entworfen 1951 von dem amerikanisch-japanischen Künstler. Er wählte den Namen ‚Akari' für diese Objekte – ein Wort, das im Japanischen ‚Licht' bedeutet und sowohl Beleuchtung als auch physische Leichtheit ausdrückt.
Die Inspiration für das Design der Akari-Leuchten stammt aus einem Besuch im japanischen Fischerdorf Gifu, wo er die Arbeit der Fischer beobachtete. Sie nutzen nicht nur dresierte Kormorane zur Jagd, sondern auch Laternen, um Fische anzulocken. Diese Laternen hatten Rippen aus Bambus, die mit feinem Papier bedeckt waren.
Er nahm das Design dieser traditionellen Laternen zum Anlass, um Lichtskulpturen aus Holz und Papier zu schaffen. Bei der Akari Stehleuchte verwendet der Designer Papier vom Maulbeerbaum, da es das Licht sanft diffundiert und gleichmäßig verteilt.

Very nice floor lamp that provides light in a otherwise dark corner of a room. the shade is white, it looks beige in the image. Lightbulbs are not included so that you can order a warm or cool light bulbs depending on your desire.
