What kind of bulb does Nivelle use?
Nivelle uses an E12 candelabra-base bulb (smaller than the standard US E26 base) — also known as a "small base" or "chandelier base" bulb. For the most authentic heritage look, look for:
• Shape: B11 or B12 (also called "torpedo" or "flame-tip" candelabra)
• Wattage: 4–6W LED (equivalent to 25–40W incandescent), MAX 15W
• Color temp: Warm-white 2700K (matches aged brass beautifully)
• Where to find: any US hardware store, Amazon, or Lowes search "B11 candelabra LED bulb 2700K"
Avoid round G16.5 globe bulbs or standard A19 / A21 bulbs — they're either the wrong shape for the slim shade or won't fit the smaller E12 socket.

Will my linen shade look exactly like the photo?
Very close, but each shade is unique. Natural linen-look fabric has subtle variations in weave texture and tone — every piece is sewn slightly differently. The aged brass body is produced in matched batches, so the architectural form will be consistent. Your Nivelle will share the photo's overall classical character, but the precise weave pattern is uniquely its own.
Can I install Nivelle as a flanking pair?
Yes — flanking pairs are the most beautiful way to install Nivelle. Common configurations: two sconces flanking a king or queen bed (one above each nightstand), beside a bathroom or powder-room mirror, flanking a fireplace mantel, or above a dining-room console. Spacing tips: bedroom sconces look best 30–36″ apart with bottom of shade at roughly 60″ from the floor; flanking a 36″ wide mirror, place sconces 8–12″ from each side of the mirror. Each sconce is independently hardwired — your electrician can install pairs from a single circuit.
How is it installed? Where can I use it?
Each Nivelle is hardwired to a wall-mounted ceiling box — we recommend a licensed electrician. Suitable rooms: bedrooms (bedside reading), hallways, entryways, powder rooms, dining rooms, libraries, home offices, and master closet vanities — anywhere indoor and dry. Not suitable: bathroom areas with shower exposure (IP20 not damp-rated), outdoor patios, or any location where moisture could reach the linen shade.
Is Nivelle dimmable?
Dimmability comes from the bulb you install. Pair Nivelle with a dimmable LED candelabra bulb and a compatible TRIAC dimmer (most US wall dimmers labeled "LED-compatible" work). For the most refined heritage glow, set dimmer to 60-70% — this gives the soft cinematic ambient light that complements aged brass and white linen most beautifully.
