SAMENVATTING
De Akari Vloerlamp maakt deel uit van de Akari-lichtbeelden, ontworpen in 1951 door de Amerikaans-Japanse kunstenaar. Hij koos de naam 'Akari' voor deze objecten, een woord dat 'licht' betekent in het Japans, wat zowel verlichting als fysieke lichtheid uitdrukt.
De inspiratie voor het ontwerp van Akari-lampen kwam voort uit een bezoek aan het Japanse vissersdorp Gifu, waar hij naar de vissers aan het werk keek. Zij gebruikten niet alleen getrainde kormorantien voor de jacht, maar ook lantaarns om vis aan te trekken. Deze lantaarns hadden ribben van bamboe, bedekt met fijn papier.
Hij gebruikte het ontwerp van deze traditionele lantaarns als aanleiding om lichtbeelden van hout en papier te maken. Voor de Akari Vloerlamp gebruikt de ontwerper papier van de moerbeienboom, omdat dit het licht verzacht, het zacht maakt en het gelijkmatig verspreidt.

Very nice floor lamp that provides light in a otherwise dark corner of a room. the shade is white, it looks beige in the image. Lightbulbs are not included so that you can order a warm or cool light bulbs depending on your desire.
