Six exacting stages turn raw clay into a finished ceramic shade.
Clay Selection & De-Airing
High-purity white porcelain clay is kneaded and de-aired for a smooth, even body — the foundation of every piece.
Design & Wiring Allowance
Shrinkage of 10–15% during firing is calculated in advance, with cord outlets and brass fittings precisely reserved at the clay stage.
Forming & Piercing
Cast or hand-thrown, then trimmed at leather-hardness to finish the socket opening and hand-carved piercings.
Air-Drying & Bisque Firing
Left to air-dry slowly to prevent cracking, then bisque-fired at 800–1000°C to set the body's structure.
Glazing & High-Fire
Coated evenly in a lead-free glaze, wiped clean at the base, then fired again at 1200–1300°C to a jade-like sheen.
Finishing & Assembly
Once cooled, socket edges are precision-finished by hand and fitted seamlessly to the Antique Brass hardware.
