Overview

The Nelson Ball Crisscross Bubble Pendant is based on the original 1952 design by the ingenious George Nelson. Utilizing U.S. military techniques and surplus supplies after World War II, Nelson created the first set of Bubble Lamps — covering them in a translucent white plastic spray that produces a soft, organic aesthetic when illuminated.

The lightweight steel wireframe ensures the lamp retains its shape even under tension. In this piece, a network of interconnected steel wires creates a delightful geometric crisscross pattern. Hang in a cluster for a delicate, ambient glow.

What is the difference between the 9 models?

Each model represents a distinct silhouette in the Nelson Bubble family — flat disc, round ball, elongated cylinder, teardrop, or compound forms. Models A and B are wide, disc-like shapes in multiple sizes. Models C–I offer more sculptural profiles. Choose based on the visual weight and proportions that work best with your ceiling height and room size. Clustering different models at varying heights is a popular approach.

What bulb do I need?

This pendant uses an E26 or E27 base bulb (standard US socket), max 40W. For the most authentic soft glow through the mulberry silk cover, we recommend a Warm Light LED bulb.

Can I cluster multiple pendants together?

Yes — clustering Nelson Bubble Pendants at different heights is one of the most popular ways to use them. Mixing models (e.g., Models A, C, and D together) creates a beautiful, layered installation. Each pendant requires its own ceiling connection point. We support custom wholesale orders for cluster installations.

Are custom sizes available?

Yes — as a manufacturer, we support customization of any size and shape. Wholesale customers can receive up to 50% discount. Please contact our support team to discuss your requirements.

Does it require professional installation?

Yes — this pendant is hardwired and requires a ceiling electrical connection. We recommend a licensed electrician. The lamp is compatible with sloped ceilings up to 30°. See the Installation Guide in the Downloads section.
