How high should I mount the Payson Wall Lamp?
For most applications, mount the center of the lamp at 55–65″ from the floor. For bedside reading, aim for the bottom of the shade to sit around seated eye level — roughly 48–55″. For hallways and living rooms, 60–65″ is the standard. The tall profile (19.7″) means the top of the lamp will land well above eye level, keeping the look open and airy.
Does solid brass tarnish or change over time?
Yes — and that's part of its beauty. Solid brass naturally develops a patina over months and years, deepening from bright antique gold toward a warmer, darker tone. If you prefer to slow this process, occasionally wipe with a soft cloth and apply a thin coat of brass wax or lacquer. If you love the aged look, simply leave it alone.
Are bulbs included? What kind should I use?
No bulbs are included. The Payson takes an E12 (US candelabra) / E14 (international) base bulb, MAX 15W. We recommend a 2200–2700K warm white LED candelabra bulb (2–4W LED equivalent) — the warm amber tone pairs perfectly with the antique brass and enhances the vintage character of the lamp.
Is this dimmable?
Yes, with the right setup. Since the Payson is hardwired, pair it with a wall dimmer rated for LED loads and use a dimmable LED candelabra bulb. Check your dimmer's compatibility list — E12/E14 dimmable LEDs can vary in compatibility.
Do I need an electrician to install it?
Yes — the Payson is hardwired directly to your wall junction box. We recommend professional installation by a licensed electrician. The included installation guide walks through every step if you're comfortable with basic wiring and your local code permits homeowner installation.
