Le Nelson Bubble Lamps furono progettate per la prima volta nel 1952 quando Nelson si ispirò a una serie di lampade sospese svedesi. Il loro prezzo elevato lo spinse a crearne una propria versione, e arrivò a un processo innovativo che sostituiva il loro paralume in seta con un materiale plastico traslucido, rendendole accessibili a un prezzo modesto.
