Hand-cut alabaster, sliced thin enough to read the light through, so the fixture glows across its whole surface rather than glaring from a bulb. Wall sconces, flush mounts and pendants.
Alabaster is at its best where people sit close to the light: bedside, along a hallway, flanking a mirror. It gives a warm, even output at low wattage and never produces the hot spot that clear glass does.
